ABOUT
ISRAEL

Did you know?

Israel is a country in West Asia. It is bordered by Lebanon to the north, Syria to the northeast, Jordan to the east, the Red Sea to the south, Egypt to the southwest, the Mediterranean Sea to the west, and the Palestinian territories – the West Bank along the east and the Gaza Strip along the southwest. Tel Aviv is the financial, economic, and technological center of the country, while its seat of government is in its proclaimed capital of Jerusalem, although Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem is unrecognized internationally.

Israel is located in the Southern Levant, a region known historically as Canaan, Palestine, or the Holy Land. In antiquity, it was home to several Canaanite, Israelite, and Jewish kingdoms, and is referred to as the Land of Israel in Jewish tradition. The region was ruled by powers such as the Assyrians, Babylonians, Achaemenids, Greeks, and Romans. During Roman rule, Jews became a minority in Palestine. The region later came under Byzantine and Arab rule. In the Middle Ages, it was part of the Islamic Caliphates, the Crusader Kingdom, and the Ottoman Empire. The late 19th century saw the rise of Zionism, a movement advocating for the establishment of a Jewish homeland. Under the British Mandate placed by the League of Nations after World War I, Jewish immigration to the region increased considerably leading to intercommunal conflict between Jews and the Arab majority. The UN-approved 1947 partition plan triggered a civil war between these groups which would see the expulsion or fleeing of most Palestinians from Mandatory Palestine. The British terminated the Mandate on 14 May 1948, and Israel declared independence on the same day.

On 15 May 1948, the armies of five neighboring Arab states invaded the area of the former Mandatory Palestine, starting the First Arab–Israeli War. An armistice in 1949 left Israel in control of more territory than the U.N. partition plan had called for; no new Arab state was created, as the rest of the former Mandate territory was divided between Egypt, which occupied the Gaza Strip, and Jordan, which annexed the West Bank. The 1967 Six-Day War ended with Israel occupying both the West Bank and Gaza alongside the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula and the Syrian Golan Heights. Israel has since effectively annexed both East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, and has established settlements across the occupied territories, actions which are deemed illegal under international law. Since the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Israel has signed peace treaties with Egypt, returning the Sinai Peninsula, and with Jordan, and more recently normalized relations with several Arab countries. However, efforts to resolve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict have not succeeded. Israel's practices, in the longest military occupation in modern history, have drawn international condemnation for violating the human rights of the Palestinians.

The country has a parliamentary system elected by proportional representation. The prime minister serves as head of government, and is elected by the Knesset, Israel's unicameral legislature. Israel has the highest Human Development Index of all countries in the Middle East and is one of the richest countries in the Middle East and Asia, and an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development member since 2010. It has the highest standards of living in the Middle East, and has been ranked as one of the most advanced and technological countries, with a population of nearly 10 million people, as of 2023. It has the world's 29th-largest economy by nominal GDP and 16th by nominal GDP per capita.

FAQs

HOW MUCH DOES A PHOTOGRAPHER COST IN ISRAEL?

The cost of hiring a photographer in Israel can vary widely depending on factors such as the photographer's experience and expertise, the duration of the shoot, the location, and the specific services included in the package. As of my last update, the average cost for a professional wedding photographer in Israel typically ranges from 3,000 to 10,000 Israeli Shekels (ILS) or more.

Factors that can influence pricing include:

  1. Experience and Reputation: Photographers with more experience and a strong portfolio may charge higher fees.

  2. Coverage Time: The number of hours the photographer will be present at the wedding affects the overall cost.

  3. Additional Services: Some photographers may offer extras such as engagement shoots, albums, prints, or second shooters, which can impact the total price.

  4. Location: Photographers may charge more for weddings in popular tourist destinations or remote areas due to travel expenses.

  5. Peak Season: Prices may be higher during peak wedding season, typically from late spring to early autumn.

To get an accurate quote, couples should research and contact several photographers, discuss their requirements, and request detailed pricing information tailored to their specific needs and preferences. It's also essential to review the photographer's portfolio, read reviews from past clients, and ensure they have the necessary qualifications and professional equipment for capturing your special day.

How MUCH THE PHOTOGRAPHERS LISTED ON YOUR LIST COST?

The cost of our wedding photographer can vary significantly based on factors such as their reputation, experience, geographic location, and the services included in their packages. In many cases, our wedding photographers may charge several thousand euros for their services. Prices can range from €2,500 to €7,000. Our high-end photographers often offer premium services, extensive coverage, custom albums, and additional perks. It's essential to discuss specific requirements, package details, and any additional costs during consultations with your favorite photographers.

Yes, tourists can get married in Israel, but there are certain legal requirements and procedures that must be followed. Here are some key points to consider:

WHAT KIND OF PAPERWORK DO WE NEED TO GET MARRIED IN ISRAEL?

Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Legal Requirements: Couples must adhere to specific legal requirements to marry in Israel. These typically include providing documentation such as passports, birth certificates, and proof of legal eligibility to marry. If either party has been previously married, divorce or death certificates may also be required.

  2. Religious Ceremonies: Israel offers religious ceremonies for Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and other faiths. Couples of different religions may need to undergo additional paperwork or ceremonies to satisfy the requirements of their respective faiths.

  3. Civil Marriages: Civil marriages performed outside of Israel are generally recognized in Israel. However, civil marriages performed within Israel are not currently available for non-residents, as there is no civil marriage option for non-Jewish couples in Israel.

  4. Residency Requirement: There is no residency requirement for getting married in Israel, making it accessible to tourists who wish to tie the knot in this historic and culturally rich country.

  5. Wedding Planner: Many couples choose to work with local wedding planners who can assist with the legal requirements, coordinate the ceremony, and help with other logistical details. This can be particularly helpful for couples who are unfamiliar with Israeli marriage laws and procedures.

  1. Overall, getting married in Israel as a tourist is possible, but couples should ensure they understand the legal requirements and procedures involved, especially if they are planning a religious ceremony. Working with a local wedding planner can help ensure a smooth and stress-free experience.

What is an ISRAEL wedding like?

An Israeli wedding is a vibrant and spirited celebration that blends tradition, culture, and modernity. Here are some key aspects of an Israeli wedding:

  1. Guest Involvement: Israeli weddings are typically large affairs, with extended family, friends, and even acquaintances joining in the festivities. Guests often play an active role in the celebration, dancing, singing, and participating in various traditions throughout the night.

  2. Ceremony: Israeli weddings may include both religious and secular elements, depending on the couple's preferences and beliefs. Jewish weddings often feature traditional rituals such as the signing of the Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract), the circling of the bride by the groom, and the breaking of a glass to symbolize the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem.

  3. Music and Dancing: Music and dancing are central to Israeli weddings, with lively music ranging from traditional Jewish songs to contemporary Israeli and international hits. Guests form circles for traditional dances like the Hora, where they dance joyously while lifting the newlyweds on chairs.

  4. Food and Drink: Israeli weddings are known for their abundant and delicious food offerings, featuring a variety of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes such as falafel, hummus, shawarma, and grilled meats. The celebration often includes multiple courses, accompanied by wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.

  5. Fashion: Israeli brides are known for their stunning wedding attire, often opting for designer gowns featuring intricate lace, beadwork, and embroidery. Grooms may wear modern suits or traditional attire such as a Kittel (white robe) or a Tallit (prayer shawl).

  6. Emotional Moments: From the emotional exchange of vows to heartfelt speeches and blessings, Israeli weddings are filled with touching moments that celebrate the love and commitment of the newlyweds.

  7. Late-Night Celebrations: Israeli weddings can last well into the early hours of the morning, with the party continuing long after the formalities are over. Guests enjoy dancing, eating, and celebrating together until the sun rises.

Overall, an Israeli wedding is a joyous and festive occasion that reflects the rich cultural heritage, warmth, and hospitality of the Israeli people.

All Kind oF weddings and ELOPEMENTS

Weddings vary greatly across different cultures, traditions, and personal preferences. Here's a brief overview of various types of weddings:

  1. Traditional Weddings: These weddings typically follow cultural or religious customs and traditions specific to a particular community or region. Examples include Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, and Buddhist weddings, each with its own rituals and ceremonies.

  2. Civil Weddings: Also known as courthouse weddings, civil weddings are officiated by a government official, such as a judge, justice of the peace, or a civil marriage commissioner. They often involve a simple ceremony with legal vows and minimal formalities.

  3. Destination Weddings: Couples choose to have their weddings at a location away from their hometown, often in exotic or picturesque destinations. These weddings can range from intimate beach ceremonies to elaborate events at luxury resorts.

  4. Outdoor Weddings: Held in natural settings such as gardens, parks, vineyards, or beaches, outdoor weddings offer a scenic backdrop for the ceremony and reception. They often embrace nature and incorporate elements like floral decorations and outdoor activities.

  5. Themed Weddings: Couples personalize their weddings by choosing a specific theme that reflects their interests or hobbies. Themes can range from vintage, rustic, and bohemian to movie-inspired, fairytale, and cosplay weddings.

  6. Eco-Friendly Weddings: With a focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility, eco-friendly weddings minimize waste and carbon footprints by using recycled materials, opting for organic food and flowers, and choosing eco-conscious vendors.

  7. LGBTQ+ Weddings: Same-sex couples celebrate their love with weddings that may follow traditional or personalized ceremonies, depending on their preferences. LGBTQ+ weddings highlight inclusivity and equality in marriage.

  8. Micro Weddings: In intimate gatherings with a small guest list, micro weddings prioritize quality time with loved ones over the scale of the event. They often involve fewer than 50 guests and can be more budget-friendly and personalized.

  9. Multicultural Weddings: Couples from different cultural backgrounds blend their traditions and customs to create a unique wedding experience that honors both of their heritages. These weddings celebrate diversity and foster cultural exchange.

  10. Virtual Weddings: In response to circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic, couples may choose to host virtual weddings, where guests participate remotely via video conferencing platforms. Virtual weddings enable couples to share their special day with friends and family worldwide while prioritizing safety.

These are just a few examples of the diverse range of weddings celebrated worldwide, each reflecting the personalities, values, and preferences of the couples involved.
