Who are you? Describe yourself in a few words.

My name is Javi and I was born in Asturias in Northern Spain surrounded by nature, which had a big impact on my life.
I have a degree in chemistry but never worked as a chemist. During my faculty time, I started to take photos to document my snowboarding/skateboarding trips with friends. From that, I started to work as a snowboarding photographer, founded a magazine and after doing my sister's wedding I decided to start a wedding business.
Right now weddings are my life and I feel really privileged to be able to live from this for the last 15 years.

Do you think that creativity involves putting your heart and soul into your work?

Of course, I do think that. I always try to follow my heart and soul for making my decisions and I found out that works very well.

What in your personal life has influenced you to choose your career?

For being a photographer snowboarding and for being a wedding photographer my sister asked me to shoot her wedding ;)

What inspires you on a daily basis??

Mostly nature and the people I talk to.

After these years of working on your craft, do you still feel the joy of doing what you do?

I don´t see any of her way of being a wedding photographer. Enjoying every wedding and connecting with every couple that decides to book me. I feel privileged for being able to have this work and for all the things that have brought to my life.

Have you always wanted to do what you are doing?

I guess that the answer is no, weddings come to me without looking for then. But I believe that is a kind of energy that makes things happen for a reason.

Is there a particular place where you feel most creative?

For me is nature. Could be mountains, beaches, deserts, forests...Every time I walk alone in nature I connect with myself and ideas start to flow.

Do your work and approach have changed?

Yes of course. As human beings we have always to evolve to grow, so my approach to wedding photography has changed a lot. In the beginning, it was more about the hero shoot but in the last years, it was more about, people, emotions, and real moments.

Is it difficult to maintain your level of knowledge? What do you do to improve it?

As I told before I like to grow as a person and as a photographer. So I always try to go to conferences and work but mostly to connect with people. I found out that normally I learn more talking with someone than listening to a presentation.
