Stories for ordinary people with extraordinary feelings.

My name is Kinga, I’m a wedding and couples photographer based in Venice, Northern Italy.

With an unstoppable desire to capture people’s feelings, I document stories all around the world - from the breathtaking coast of Portugal, through the mesmerizing streets of Italy where I’m based, all the way up to South Korea and Japan.

I’ve been always trying to learn as much as possible about my couples in order to capture their true vibe. My forever goal is to document each event as it really is - the real tears, the genuine laughs, the moments of anxiety, the dance floor madness, the intimate looks... All that with a good pinch of cinematic to keep things both meaningful and timeless.

INTERVIEW

Who are you? Describe yourself in a few words.

Hi, I’m Kinga. I’m a couples and wedding photographer based in Venice, Northern Italy. My life is a combo of 80% photography and travels and 20% pasta.

Do you think that creativity involves putting your heart and soul into your work?

As it comes to art creativity, yes, definitely. I believe it’s necessary to see bits of poetry in other people in order to be able to create art for them. It’s equally important to always put a bit of your own heart and soul and bits of your personal poetry in it. Only then you can create something meaningful and artful both for others and for yourself.

What in your personal life has influenced you to choose your career?

It’s quite funny as it was pretty much a coincidence. Photography was just a hobby for me back in the days and I used to be avoiding human element in my photos at all costs. Then one day an elderly couple holding hands literally photobombed my perfect empty frame when I was traveling across Croatia. What I later saw in the developed photograph made me realize that it’s in fact the couple and the bond between them that made me love this photograph so much. That was the moment I got into street photography which later evolved into a professional photography career.

If you had the chance to live during a different artistic movement other than now, which one would you choose?

I’ve always dreamed of going back in time to attend The Salon des Indépendants exhibition in Paris and meet all the groundbreaking artists who shaped modern art around the 1890s. I always think it must have been a melting pot of creative energies featuring very diverse styles. Imagine meeting Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gaugin, Paul Signac, and others… All of them are in one place. Some of them were completely underestimated back in these days whose works are now worth millions of dollars. Their stories and artistic careers are so inspiring.

What inspires you on a daily basis?

Cinematography, books, travels, different cultures, my own love life - just to name a few.

What made you decide to follow a creative career choice (though possibly risky) rather than something more stable?

I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and have the freedom to decide on my work-life balance. I’m fine working 24/7 (which happens a lot haha) as long as I know I can take some time off whenever I feel like it and make it last for as long as I want.

After these years of working on your craft, do you still feel the joy of doing what you do?

Absolutely! The moment I don’t enjoy it any more will be the day I quit and follow a new path. I only have one life and I don’t want to waste a single day doing something I hate.

Is there a particular place where you feel most creative?

There are many places like that. I’d say nature - the Dolomites, Iceland, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. All of Italy is giving me Paolo Sorrentino vibes. Equally all of Japan, Taiwan, Seoul in South Korea - there are a lot of cinematic frames there in everyday life. I see loads of Wong Kar-wai mood in Taiwan for example and his cinematography has always been an inspiration for me.

What do you intend to achieve through your work?

I want to give people something that will make them feel whatever they felt during the time I took their picture. I want these photos to be timeless and moving for them first of all. I’d always put their actual mood and vibe above my own vision or current trends. Having a trendy Instagram feed is cool but we have to remember we create for someone specific first and foremost, not for our feed or portfolio. That’s why I always try to learn as much about my couples as possible so I can seriously create something special for them that also feels like them. Each couple has their own unique way of being and I make sure they’re aware of it too, especially when someone is strongly inspired by specific photos and really wants to recreate them.

Who or what has been your greatest inspiration in life? Explain?

It’s always been a mix of many things, people, and experiences I gained over the years so it’s hard to explain it in short. It’s probably travels and all the people I’ve ever met who inspired me to live the life that I do now.
